ESPN will feature more than two dozen offerings during the first-ever quarterfinal showdowns of the inaugural 12-team College Football Playoff on Tuesday, December 31, and Wednesday, January 1, courtesy of ESPN’s unique CFP MegaCast Production. The primary broadcast of all four games will be on ESPN, with additional viewing options on ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS, SEC Network, ESPN Radio, ESPN Deportes and the ESPN App.

MegaCast fan favorite for the third year in a row Field pass returns to the College Football Playoff. Field Pass with The Pat McAfee Show offers entertaining, free-flowing commentary on the CFP quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential on ESPN2, featuring top-ranked Oregon and No. 8 Ohio State. Pat McAfee will anchor the coverage and dictate the action as he prowls the sidelines of the Rose Bowl. He will be joined throughout the game by a number of ESPN analysts, notables and celebrities. His regular guest The Pat McAfee Show crew of AJ Hawk, Darius Butler, Connor Campbell, Ty Schmit And Clay Digswill join McAfee from “The Granddaddy of Them All.”

New to this year’s College Football Playoff presentation is the integration of MindFly technology during the playoff quarterfinals at the Rose Bowl Game Presented by Prudential and the Allstate Sugar Bowl. ESPN will attach MindFly BodyCams to three referees (referee, center judge and head linesman) to provide viewers with unprecedented, decisive footage of close plays during these two CFP quarterfinals. The camera is presented as part of AT&T’s “Connected Cam” sponsorship. The wearable camera technology uses an AI-stabilized POV camera with a built-in microphone.

  • Command Center (ESPN2 – Fiesta, Peach, Sugar/ESPNU – Rose): A multi-angle presentation that includes up to four different angles simultaneously, with real-time player and team statistics complementing gameplay.
  • SkyCast (ESPNU – Fiesta, Peach, Sugar/ESPNEWS – Rose): The view from above of the action and behind the offense, which is popular for most plays. This unique angle has long been one of ESPN’s alternative viewing options and is available at multiple games each week. Replays are shown every time the main show presents a replay, without losing the SkyCam look.

Episode 2 – Bring It Home, premiering Friday, December 27, takes viewers on campus for the first round of the CFP as fans experience the excitement of a hometown atmosphere with postseason implications. Episodes are also available to stream on Disney+ and will be rebroadcast on ESPN and ESPN2. The next ESPN+ premiere dates for the final three episodes are Tuesday, January 7, Wednesday, January 15, and Friday, January 24.

ESPN and TSN are teaming up to bring CFP to the big screen
ESPN has extended its theatrical distribution agreement with Theater Sports Network (TSN) to present all 11 games of the College Football Playoff (CFP). As the exclusive home of the CFP since the event’s premiere in 2015, ESPN expanded its current package through the 2025–26 season and extended its rights agreement through the 2031–32 season, adding all four games of the new CFP First Round each year to ESPN’s existing six New Year’s Games (now playoff quarterfinals and playoff semifinals) and the CFP National Championship.
