Eva Mendes shares new family photo: “Like mother, like daughter”

Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling expanded their family last year when they welcomed a new dog, Magic, into the family.

While the former actress avoids posting about her partner and their two daughters Esmeralda, 10, and Amada, 8, she has no problem posting about her four-legged friend, who has become a full-fledged member of the Gosling-Mendes clan is.

The 50-year-old shared a teasing post on Instagram in which she claimed she was starting to see a resemblance between herself and the mixed-breed poodle.

She shared a close-up photo of Magic, in which the dog is giving a grim sideways look, and another photo of herself with a similar expression on the red carpet.

She captioned the photo: “Like a mother, like a daughter. I wish you MAGIC for 2025.”

Ryan and Eva first adopted their furry friend in November 2024 and announced the “newest member of our family” on Instagram with an adorable video.

“We adopted her from this amazing organization,” Eva said, referring to California Doodle Rescues, a nonprofit organization dedicated to rescuing, fostering and finding homes for mixed-breed poodles.

“There’s more to come… I’m crazy about her and excited to share life with Magic with you,” she told her fans.

The couple spent their first Christmas at home in California with Magic, their two daughters and their other dog Lucho.

Barbie Star Ryan is known to be a dog lover, having once been inseparable from his mixed-breed dog George, who died in 2016 at the age of 17. In memory of George, Ryan continued to wear his dog tag as a necklace and even ended Saturday Night Live in 2017 wearing a T-shirt with a picture of the furry friend on it.

“There was something about George that…I think he felt like being a dog was beneath him,” Ryan told Ellen DeGeneres. “He wouldn’t do tricks. If you wanted him to sit down, you had to somehow convince him that it was in his best interest. For example, ‘Look, we’re going to be sitting in this car for about three hours, so if you want to sit down, you might feel more comfortable this way.’ Then he could think about it.

He continued: “George started to look like an aging rock star as he got older. He was kind of skinny and fat, he had big hair and no teeth – a few open wounds. But still sexy.”

Eva retired from Hollywood in 2014 to focus on raising her daughters, while Ryan continued to star in blockbusters. But it doesn’t seem like the 50-year-old is missing Hollywood as she described her exit as “the easiest decision” she’s ever made.

“All these years are just so formative,” she explained People. “I wanted to experience it all.”
