Event overview for the Lone Star Showdown

COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – We are just days away from the Lone Star Showdown, when Texas A&M and the University of Texas will renew their football rivalry at Kyle Field.

It’s a big day for the Aggies and a big day for Aggieland. There won’t just be football in the city on Saturday, there will be a whole host of other events too.

“We’ve been talking about this game for at least 13 months and I don’t think any of us thought it would be this big of a deal when we started planning it,” said Erin Jones, executive associate athletics director for game management and special events at Texas A&M, said.

Events begin Friday and range from film screenings to shouting exercises with the Aggie football team. Below you will find a list of these events.

Friday, November 29th

Event Time Location
Standing Room Only: The Legend of the 12th Man 14 o’clock Rudder Theater
Jerk over the Brazos 5/5:15 p.m Kyle Fields
Screaming practice with the Aggie football team 5:30 p.m Kyle Fields
12th Man Fireworks Show After the screaming exercise Kyle Fields
Cotton Holdings Lone Star Showdown Concert 7 p.m Reed Arena
The Burning Desire (Documentary) 7 p.m Rudder Theater

Instead of a midnight screaming practice before the Lone Star Showdown, the university opted for a 5:30 p.m. screaming practice. According to Jones, this is done so that some special guests can be present.

“Coach Elko is the epitome of a fan coach and he believes in this university and what we stand for and making the exception to slightly adjust (the football team’s) schedule and make sure he and the team can be there. “ “That screaming exercise was very important,” Jones said.

Saturday will be full of events leading up to the 6:30 p.m. kickoff at Kyle Field. Below you will find these events:

Saturday November 30th

ESPN College Gameday 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m Aggie Park

“Our ghost march will take place at 4:20 p.m., the flyover will take place at that time,” Jones said. “Four F16s will fly overhead for the Spirit Walk. Since the kick-off takes place late in the evening in the dark, this is of course not possible during the national anthem, when we normally do our flyovers.”
