Eversource acquired a 26-acre portion of the Mystic property in Massachusetts from Constellation Energy for potential use as a multi-purpose energy interconnection hub for large-scale renewable energy sources

Although Eversource has not currently developed specific plans for the site, its strategic location, historic use and existing infrastructure make it a potential interconnection hub for onshore or offshore wind, hydropower, battery storage and nuclear energy.

Over the next year, Eversource will work closely with Massachusetts and Everett officials and other stakeholders to develop a plan for the property adjacent to the site of the proposed soccer stadium in Everett.

The acquisition represents an opportunity to increase grid reliability and improve affordability by addressing expected future bottlenecks in the regional transmission network.
