Everything from Brent Key after eight overtime losses to the Yellow Jackets to Georgia

Georgia Tech led Georgia by double digits with less than six minutes left and it looked like the Yellow Jackets had finally ended their losing streak against the Bulldogs. However, after a crazy final five minutes and eight overtimes, Georgia prevailed and beat the Yellow Jackets again. After the game, Georgia Tech head coach Brent Key met with the media and here is everything he had to say:

“It’s hard. I love the team there who worked their asses off. There are no moral victories, but I’m proud of these guys. We will use this to continue to push ourselves and continue to improve in all areas.” The program is special.

“What do you think? I believe that. Yes. Probably my career, my life.”

“He is a warrior. He is one of the toughest kids I have ever been around in my life. He wants to have others around him. Proud of him. Proud of them all.”

“This week. Once we knew we could throw, we didn’t know it would be as good as before, but he threw the ball better and better this week. So we had high hopes.” “

“Yes, there was a lot of consideration. I didn’t want to play call right now, yeah, that was, you know, when we went to the staff meeting last night, we went over everything. And we said if we liked the situation, we ended up using our special two-point game, so to speak, so we weren’t able to extend it. I wasn’t sure.”

“We’ll watch the tape and find out.”

“Shit. Losing stinks. Losing like that told them there are no moral victories. I’m damn proud of her. I am proud of the seniors and what they have done for this program. I’m proud of everyone who did it.” In this side hustle and with the work they’ve done since January, they never let up, they encountered obstacles and overcame them. They really solidified what our vision of the tech journey is.”

“There are about 160 people who look like me in this locker room right now. I mean, it’s… And I apologize, guys. I’m almost… It’s hard right now. It’s hard. It’s mentally exhausting. It takes a lot. Just fell a little short.”

“Tyler (Santucci) put together a really good plan. We were able to influence the quarterback the way we wanted. You know, we had to take a few players out, and that was kind of the case on a few plays.” There it was at the end, and they kept fighting, they kept fighting, they kept fighting, they kept working, to find a way.

“True, but there’s so much that’s special about college football and there’s so many things to be proud of as a college football coach. Yes, the verdict only comes when the scoreboard reaches zero. But the things.” We do with these kids and see how they grow and mature, how they do, what they do in school, what they do in society, what they do on the soccer field every week, they are special . And it hurts them. I’ve never seen anything like this, what I know about this team, what I know about this school will turn into fuel. I will use this fuel.
