Everything you need to know about TGL's SoFi Center

It’s safe to say that the golf landscape has changed tremendously since the turn of the millennium and we will see the launch of TGL in January 2025.

Considered an innovative golf league that combines advanced technology and live action, the SoFi Center in Palm Beach, Florida is a massive facility that has already received high praise from players.

Of course, with such a large lineup, there is a lot to learn when it comes to broadcasting the tournaments. The team aspect is one of them, but there are also small details that enrich the experience.

For example, there’s the 64-foot by 46-foot simulator screen developed by Full Swing, as well as the short game complex with three virtual greens and 3,800 square feet of real putting area.

Despite being a stadium facility, the SoFi Center has a hitting surface consisting of fairway, rough and sand that is said to be identical to that of Augusta National. The size of an American football field, there are two zones: the ScreenZone – for shots on the simulator screen – and the GreenZone – for short game shots and putting.

Speaking of GreenZone, this is where one of the coolest aspects of the arena comes into play. The short game area measures a whopping 22,475 square feet and, impressively, sits on a turntable that rotates the green to change approach angles.

The final aspects to consider are the hole designs used in TGL. Much like simulator golf, you might think they’ve chosen the most famous courses in the world, but instead there are over 25 uniquely designed holes that test all possibilities.

The full list can be found here, but currently there is a mix of risk-reward holes, long par-5s and challenging par-3s. Certainly it will be a fun watch and unlike anything we’ve seen before, except perhaps a video game.

Where is the SoFi Center located?

The SoFi Center is located on the Palm Beach State College campus in Palm Beach Gardens. The location makes sense since the majority of PGA Tour players live in Florida.

When was the SoFi Center built?

The SoFi Center was originally built as an inflatable dome and was scheduled to open in January 2024, but due to high winds, the TGL postponed the opening for a year. The arena now has a much more stable steel structure and was completed at the end of 2024.
