Fantasy Basketball Pickups: Davion Mitchell will step up after Scottie Barnes’ injury

Scottie Barnes left Monday’s game against the Knicks early with an ankle injury and is scheduled to be re-evaluated on Tuesday after initial X-rays came back clear. That’s good news, but he might still miss some time. Their next game is Thursday in Miami, and there are only three games that day. That does both Davion Mitchell (4% represented in Yahoo leagues) And Jonathan Mogbo (4%) possible streaming options. Barnes was the team’s primary playmaker following the loss of Immanuel Quickley, and now that responsibility falls to Mitchell. He only had eight points, three rebounds, three assists and two 3-pointers off the bench in this game, but he had some outstanding assist games as a starter earlier in the year. Mogbo is a riskier option, but he was the one who replaced Barnes in the lineup after he left the game. As a rookie, he showed he was capable of adding value across the board, even if he hasn’t had enough playing time to really make an impact. He’s more of an option for deeper leagues than Mitchell.

With only one game on Monday, there weren’t many other players worth adding. beginner Ja’Kobe Walter (1%) scored a career-high 19 points but hasn’t been consistent this year. He’s a player to keep an eye on, but not worth adding just yet.

However, there are only two games on Tuesday, so here are a few players to consider taking part. If your league has a game cap, it might not be best to stream some of these guys, but if you want to maximize your games played, here are a few options:

Cole Anthony – 5%

With both Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner out, the Magic have turned to Anthony on offense. He hasn’t been a big part of the rotation this year, but last game he scored 14 points in a season-high 29 minutes. He is arguably their best creator of healthy shots and should be used frequently until Banchero returns.

Gary Trent Jr. – 7%

GTJ’s first year in Milwaukee started off slow, but he has started to figure things out. He scored double-digit points in 10 of the last 12 games and scored a season-high 20 points in the final game. The steals haven’t come back, but the points and 3-pointers have been strong lately.

Cason Wallace – 10%

Given OKC’s rotating starting lineup, it’s worth including them Isaiah Joe (3%) And Aaron Wiggins (3%) here too. Wallace has seen the most starts lately and has had the most steals lately. All three should last 20+ minutes, making them all worth streaming on a slower day.

Naji Marshall – 9%

Marshall is questionable after missing the Mavs’ last four games due to illness. PJ Washington (illness) is also questionable, so there’s a chance Marshall could start in place of an absent Washington. Marshall has been an excellent fantasy option this season, especially when given the chance to start.
