Fantasy Football Week 17 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em

Build your Week 17 fantasy football lineups with Dalton Del Don’s top starting/sitting picks for every remaining game on the slate.

Okonkwo has 17 catches on 21 targets over the last two weeks when he was fantasy’s TE2. More red zone looks would be nice, but Okonwko’s target per route run rate jumps to 23.7% this season and his yards per route run jumps to 1.60 with Mason Rudolph. Okonkwo is a true athlete who has a Jacksonville defense that allows the most EPA/passing this season. Okonkwo is a top-12 tight end this week.

Mattison saw 19 of 32 RB chances last week. He shared routes with Ameer Abdullah, but Mattison is the favorite to work in the red zone. The Raiders are rare favorites against a comically weakened Saints team, so Sunday’s game may be more favorable than usual. New Orleans has scored the fifth-most fantasy points and an NFL-high 17 rushing touchdowns for running backs this season.

Thielen has a 24% target share since returning from injury and has been the fantasy WR24 over that five-game span. He gets a pass-funnel defense from the Buccaneers this week. Tampa Bay has allowed the second-fewest scheduled fantasy points to running backs over the last five weeks, but the Buccaneers’ opponents have averaged the second-most pass attempts (37.3) this season. Tampa Bay has also given up the fourth-most fantasy points to the slot, where Thielen has completed 77% of his routes. Bryce Young showed real growth in the second half of the year, so Thielen is a solid start to Fantasy Championship Week.

Sauce Gardner is questionable, and Cooper has potential after seeing the most air yards in any game this season three weeks ago. But since then he has totaled just two scores and 10 yards rushing in two games, and Sunday’s game carries the potential for rain and wind. Additionally, the Jets have given up the second-most fantasy points to the slot, but the fewest to the perimeter, where Cooper has completed 81% of his routes.

Dowdle led the NFL in runs in Weeks 13-15, thanks in part to a very favorable schedule, but that ended last week and he’ll once again face one of the league’s toughest run defenses on Sunday. The Eagles have given up by far the fewest schedule-adjusted fantasy points to running backs in the last five weeks. Philadelphia also allowed the second-lowest EPA/rush. The Cowboys will be missing CeeDee Lamb and have one of the lowest implied team scores this week (15.25 points). Even with Jalen Hurts out, Dallas remains a 7.5-point underdog, so the game may not be favorable. Dowdle is a candidate for the bench this week.

Nabers has averaged 12.8 goals in his last four games, which puts him third in the league with a goal share of 34.2%. The rookie is battling a toe injury but is expected to play on Sunday. Quarterback remains a concern, but Nabers is still a top-20 WR due to his massive effort. The Colts have allowed three touchdowns to wide receivers in the last two weeks, and Nabers faces another game with double-digit targets on Sunday.

Dorian Thompson-Robinson had Zero net passing yards at halftime last week, when the Browns produced just 67 catchable air yards; They averaged 171 with Jameis Winston starting. DTR is a major problem for Cleveland’s pass catchers, and he was named the starter again in Week 17. Thompson-Robinson is 0-of-11 with three picks on passes thrown beyond 15 yards this season, and Sunday’s game has the potential for some wind. Jeudy has been limited in practice due to a leg injury and Cleveland has a low implied point total of 15 points. Jeudy was fantasy’s WR2 from Weeks 11-15, but this week he’s just a desperate start.

Love has been QB28 since Week 8 as he was one of fantasy’s biggest disappointments in the second half of the season. Volume was the main issue, as Love posted 8.7 YPA but averaged just 25.5 pass attempts over that eight-game span. The Eagles have attempted the fewest passes per game this season at 25.9. Green Bay has the league’s fourth-lowest passing rate above expectations this year, but things might be different on Sunday against the Vikings’ pass-funnel defense. Minnesota has the lowest EPA/Rush but has allowed the most pass attempts (38.3 per game). The Vikings’ opponents have the highest pass rate in the league this season (64.7%).

While Love ranks near the bottom of the league with 6.1 YPA versus man coverage, he ranks third in the NFL with 9.1 YPA versus zone (h/t TruMedia). The Vikings have utilized zone coverage at the fourth-highest rate in the league (76.8%), which is also an improvement for Jayden Reed (his fantasy points per route run are up 60% against zone). This duel could be a shootout and takes place indoors with a total score of 49. Love is a top-10 QB this week.

Robinson Jr. lost two fumbles in the first 17 minutes of last week’s game as he turned in his worst fantasy performance of the season in the semifinals. Robinson Jr. hadn’t committed a single fumble all season before Sunday’s game, and he faced an Eagles defense that allowed its lowest EPA/rush since Week 9. Philadelphia hasn’t had a running back rush for over 100 yards this season. and the Eagles had given up the fewest schedule-adjusted rush fantasy points to the RBs in the last five weeks. Additionally, Robinson Jr. was sensitive to the game script all year long, and the Commanders trailed for most of the match.

Robinson Jr. now poses additional risk should he lose another early fumble in Week 17, but otherwise he should maintain Washington’s lead. The Commanders are 3.5-point favorites with a healthy implied team total (25 points) in a game with potential rain, so Sunday night’s game is more favorable. Robinson Jr. has posted a 5.1 YPC at home this season and is used well in the red zone, so he belongs in the fantasy lineup this week.

Jennings is coming off two consecutive disappointing games, but he has a good chance of bouncing back on Monday night. The 49ers are down to their No. 4 RB and a Detroit pass funnel defense that allows the fifth-most pass attempts per game (35.3). The Lions’ opponents have the third-highest passing rate in the league (62.3%), so the rate should be there. Jennings ranks seventh in yards per route run this season and thrives in man coverage, which Detroit uses at the league’s highest rate (41.9%).

The 49ers’ offense isn’t the same without Trent Williams, but San Francisco still boasts a healthy implied point total of 23.5 points. Last week, the Bears couldn’t expose the Lions’ injury-ravaged defense, but Detroit had allowed 79 points in the last two games. Stay with Jennings this week.
