Far-right influencer Nick Fuentes says armed man showed up at his door; Man fatally shot by police

White nationalist Nick Fuentes said an armed person approached his home Wednesday evening after the address of his Illinois home was leaked online.

Officers responded to a home in Berwyn, Illinois at 11:38 p.m. local time on Wednesday after receiving a “report of a male subject with a weapon,” Berwyn police said in a news release.

The man, who authorities did not identify, fled on foot and “successfully” evaded law enforcement, the release said. The man then forced his way into a nearby house, where he fatally shot the two dogs, police said.

The man fled into another neighbor’s yard and police gave him verbal commands to stop, which he did not follow, according to authorities. After he failed to cooperate, the man began shooting at the officers, who returned fire, police said.

Police fatally shot the man during the shootout, and no officers were injured in the incident, according to the news release.

Police said initial reports indicated the man was wanted for a triple murder that occurred Wednesday morning in Mahomet, Illinois. This incident is currently under investigation by the Illinois State Police.

Berwyn police did not name Fuentes in the news release, but USA TODAY reviewed Cook County property records, which show Fuentes purchased property on the block officers responded to.

“Thank God that I’m still alive”

Fuentes commented on the incident in a series of X-posts shared Thursday afternoon, claiming that the armed individual “made an attempt on my life.”

“I’m grateful to God that I’m alive today,” Fuentes posted on X.

He also shared surveillance video that appeared to show a man brandishing a crossbow and a gun.

“Although heartbreaking, it could have been so unimaginably worse,” the post continued. “God be merciful. Doxxing is not a game.”

This wouldn’t be the first time Fuentes was confronted at his home, as Berwyn police responded to his apartment last month after a verbal back-and-forth with 57-year-old Marla Rose, multiple media outlets, including NBC News, reported. In a now-deleted video shared by Rose, Fuentes opens the door, points a sprayer at the camera, grabs the woman’s phone, takes it into his home and then locks the door, NBC reported.

According to Cook County court records, Fuentes was ultimately arrested on assault charges stemming from the Nov. 27 incident.

Who is Nick Fuentes?

Fuentes, a former staunch supporter of President-elect Donald Trump, has received backlash for his anti-Semitic and racist comments. Last year he was expelled from the Conservative Political Action Conference because of his history of openly promoting anti-Semitic and racist rhetoric, including trivializing the Holocaust.

Fuentes has to move after the incident

In one of the X-posts shared by Fuentes about the incident, he wrote: “I have to give up my life now and move. While I can handle anything that comes to my doorstep, it is irresponsible to expect my neighbors with young families to do the same.” Share this burden.

Until Fuentes moves, he wrote in the social media post that he is “hiring 24-hour security to protect me and my property.”
