Fatal crash on I-70 causes traffic delays in Columbia | Mid-Missouri News

One person was killed in a fatal crash on the westbound lane of Interstate 70 in Columbia Saturday morning, according to Missouri State Highway Patrol Troop F.

According to a Troop F to X post, officers were investigating a two-vehicle collision near mile marker 121 as early as 10:46 a.m

“The lane is blocked and traffic is quickly backing up. Please avoid the area and use an alternate route,” MSHP wrote in the post.

The Missouri Department of Transportation also told X that both westbound lanes of I-70 were closed at mile marker 121 due to the accident. The MoDOT traveler’s map showed the incident was reported at 9:34 a.m

MoDOT traffic cameras between the 121 and 124 mile markers showed vehicles blocked in the westbound lane of I-70 near the Sorrels Overpass. Traffic in the eastbound lanes appeared to still be moving.

Cameras showed traffic in the westbound lanes resumed around 11:15 a.m
