Fernando Mendoza’s emotional TV interview after the game caused enthusiasm

Want the essence of what college football should be? Watch this video for the umpteenth time.

That’s Fernando Mendoza in a nutshell.

Some people will no doubt think it was too over the top at the moment, but the vast majority of viewers loved it, knowing it came after a game-winning 98-yard drive to overcome a 14-point deficit in the third quarter against Cal’s archrival Stanford in the Big Game.

The Terrible announcement The website reported it with the headline: “Cal QB Fernando Mendoza gives great, emotional interview after beating Stanford.”

Max Browne documented his best moments of the college football weekend on TikTok, culminating in his favorite moment, the Mendoza interview.

The game was on the ACC Network, but ESPN.com posted one Video of the interview on his website.

Yahoo Sports showed the interview with the headline: “Fernando Mendoza with ALL-TIME postgame interview after win over Stanford.”

This resulted in a t-shirt that I would want if I weren’t a journalist committed to not showing favoritism.

Mendoza had gathered on Tuesday as he spoke about Saturday’s television interview, noting that he himself had not seen a video of the interview because he does not have social media.

“I have received numerous reactions from my friends and family who think it is a great interview,” he said. “Steve Levy, who played here (and organized the 2004 Cal team reunion on Saturday), said he loved it, that it was pure emotion. It was really pure emotion.

“I don’t know why I cried, but I cried. I felt a little overwhelmed at the moment because it was so surreal to actually go 98 yards with the guys and score. I kind of blacked out and let my words do the talking.

“I am proud to publish an interview like this to show that I care about this team and the game of college football.”

Jonathan Brady, who caught the 22-yard touchdown pass to complete the 98-yard drive, believes he may be responsible for Mendoza’s extreme emotions.

“I’m a very emotional guy,” Brady said. “So when we scored and the defense finally ended the game with a great stop, I just walked up to him and said, ‘I love you; I love you, brother.’ I don’t know why, but I had tears in my eyes, so I think I made him cry before the interview. So this is my mistake.”

Or his well-being.

And finally, here is the Twitter message from Morgan Uber, who conducted the interview, or rather, held the microphone while Mendoza poured his heart out.
