Ferris State defeats defending champion Harding to advance to the semifinals

Ferris State jumped out to a 34-0 lead through the first three quarters and easily defeated defending champion Harding 41-7 in an NCAA Division II football quarterfinal Saturday in Big Rapids.

The game was a matchup of the last three Division II champions, with Harding winning the title in 2023 and Ferris State being champions in 2022 and 2021.

Ferris State quarterback Trinidad Chambliss ran 8 yards for a touchdown and completed a 7-yard pass to James Gilbert in the first quarter, giving the Bulldogs (12-1) a 13-0 lead and enough points to win to win the game.

Kannon Katzer scored from a yard out in the final minute of the first half to extend the lead to 20-0.

In the third quarter, Chambliss ran for a 4-yard score and completed a 12-yard pass to Gilbert.

Katzer ran for a 7-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter to take a 41-0 lead.
