Final result Lakers vs. Kings: Defense and rebounds lead Lakers to victory

The Lakers dominated the table with 15 offensive rebounds, led by 20 from Anthony Davis, and picked up a big 113-100 win over the Kings on Thursday.

Anthony Davis passed Serge Ikaba to become 30th all-time in blocks. Although he struggled to shoot the ball, he still scored 21 points with a season-high 20 rebounds while also adding six blocks, four assists and three steals.

Austin Reaves had another great game, scoring 25 points with five rebounds and five assists. LeBron James made history, reaching the first minutes played ever in NBA history. He also joined the 10,000 Lakers points club. He finished with 19 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Gabe Vincent had an excellent performance off the bench, going 4-5 from behind the arc and finishing with 12 points. D’Angelo Russell started with 16 and six points bounces off.

The Lakers started the game red hot offensively. Austin and LeBron both made 3-point shots and everyone except Rui Hachimura scored. At the first timeout, LA had a lead of nine. After LA extended its lead to 13, things started to heat up in Sacramento.

Domantas Sabonis and Kevin Huerter, both of whom enjoy facing the Lakers, made 3-pointers. It was a three-point play with 4:12 remaining in the quarter.

Gabe knocked down a three-pointer to stop the bleeding. AD was particularly active, trying to give the Lakers multiple opportunities by diving and rebounding for loose balls. At the end of the first period, the Lakers were ahead by nine.

The second quarter began with a 3-pointer from Huerter. Dalton Knecht responded with a fastbreak layup.

Things got hot again in Sacramento. With 7:01 left, the Lakers had a 3-point lead. Austin was the first Laker in double figures with 10 points.

A layup by Sabonis and a 3-pointer by former Lakers Malik Monk put the Kings ahead by two points. D’Lo drilled a three-pointer of his own, putting the Lakers ahead by one. Malik hit back with another 3-pointer, forcing the Lakers into a timeout. Sacramento shot up to 50% while the Lakers shot just 39%.

Malik shone against his former team. He threw down a fierce dunk and extended the lead to five. Both teams played with some spice. Luckily for LA, their offense kept them in the game. Gabe sank his third three-pointer.

At halftime, LA had a lead of four.

In the second half, the Kings took the lead with back-to-back three-pointers from De’Aaron Fox and Malik. Luckily for the Lakers, Fox picked up his fifth foul of the game. The Lakers missed a few good shots but still managed to tie the game.

AD’s offensive play was a bit spotty, but his defense was outstanding as he had up to six blocks.

Both teams started trading baskets and kept the game getting closer and closer, making it a hard-fought battle. The Lakers took a lead of four and forced the Kings into a timeout. LeBron had one of his trademark chase-down blocks and then went coast-to-coast for a layup on the other end.

The Lakers’ lead grew to seven before Keegan Murray drained a three-pointer. LA finally completed a successful quarter and improved by six.

The final frame began with the Lakers leading by nine. Gabe sank another 3-pointer. But LA couldn’t hold on to its big lead for long as the Kings cut the deficit to two.

Both teams fought particularly hard, especially on defense. Six minutes before the end of the game, the Lakers were already five minutes ahead. The mood was very changeable, every team played with a chip on their shoulder despite a few missed throws.

A 3-pointer from Austin increased the lead for LA, bringing them up to 11 points. Sacramento began firing desperate shots. Fox made three more, but her shots didn’t look good.

After another big 3-pointer from Reaves in the final period, Sacramento waved the white flag, emptied its bench and waved the white flag.
