Firefighters battle building fire in Santa Paula amid strong winds

SANTA PAULA, Calif. – A fire broke out in a two-alarm building in the 1400 block of East Main Street late Tuesday evening, prompting an aggressive response from firefighters on a night of dangerously high winds across Southern California.

According to Ventura County Fire Department spokesman Andrew Dowd, the fire broke out in a storage building just after 11 p.m. Due to the strong wind, the flames spread quickly. According to Dowd, several storage units and vehicles were burned as a result.

VCFD Firefighters from the Ventura City Fire Department and the Oxnard Fire Department were called in to help fight the fire.

Dowd told Your News Channel that the additional units on scene helped them access the fire from multiple sides and that crews are working hard to prevent the fire from spreading to vegetation. He noted that there was “no interface nearby” as the fire broke out in an industrial area of the city near railway tracks.
