The Chelsea squad were busy in Cobham on Friday preparing for Sunday’s big London derby at Tottenham Hotspur.

In our third Premier League game in eight days, we travel across the capital to take on Spurs, following an impressive 3-0 win over Aston Villa and a 5-1 win over Southampton last week have recorded.

Today in the gym and on the training pitch, under the watchful eye of Enzo Maresca, the players prepared to make it four wins in a row in all competitions.

Among those working hard at Cobham was Enzo Fernandez and our head coach spoke about the midfielder’s development following his recent impressive performances, which saw him contribute two goals and three assists in the last four Premier League games.

“Enzo is making great progress, especially when it comes to his understanding of the game and position,” said the Italian. “Now he’s in the right position, coming into the box, always there.” That’s what we need from the attacking players. Sure he can make things better, not just Enzo but the whole team, but he is on the right track.”

Our head coach also spoke about training at Cobham and gave an insight into working with his players on a daily basis.

“I spend many hours figuring out how to help players improve and convince them,” Maresca continued. “Today we finished the session and the last half hour was just an extra session for some players to try and improve.”

“We watch games, review games and see how they can improve.” I have four or five assistant coaches who take the time to get into the little details about positioning, right foot control, left foot control, right foot play and left foot play. Things like that.’
