Florida State football recruiting: Blue-chip RB Ousmane Kromah commits

Mike Norvell and the Florida State Seminoles have pulled off a stunning verbal commitment to #Tribe25. This time it’s a blue-chip running back FSU has long coveted and is proving the power of real relationships and long-term play.

Ousmane Kromah is a 5-foot-10, 200-pound running back who plays for Lee County in Leesburg, Georgia. He is currently ranked as the 74th best player in the country by the 247Sports Composite (4th best RB, 10th best player in GA). He was one of two targets at the top of FSU’s running back board throughout the cycle. After the Seminoles recently lost their other top priority to the Florida Gators, those relationships with Kromah paid off in a big way with his verbal promise.

Kirby Smart’s Bulldogs got Kromah after a hard-fought summer of visits, but he spurned the Dawgs and the Seminoles over 25 other offers from the likes of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Colorado Buffaloes, Florida Gators, Kentucky Wildcats, Miami Hurricanes, Michigan Wolverines , Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Ohio State Buckeyes and Tennessee Volunteers.

As his film shows again and again, Kromah has a great combination of vision, patience and persistence. He quickly reaches the second level and shows a nice selection of jukes and cuts to get into the open before turning on the jets. He can also be a weapon in the passing game. Kromah also isn’t afraid to stick his shoulder down and run through tacklers.

In his junior season, Kromah totaled 1,783 yards and 20 touchdowns (an incredible 9.8 yards per carry) in 13 games. He also had 31 catches for 522 yards and nine more touchdowns. For his efforts, he was named 6A Offensive Player of the Year by the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

As a sophomore in 2022, Kromah ran for 1,504 yards and 20 touchdowns (8.3 yards per carry) in just nine games. He also caught 18 passes for 193 yards and two scores.
