Football | The Gonzales boys beat King City and won the fourth game – The King City Rustler

SALINAS VALLEY – With just one game remaining until Christmas break, the Gonzales High varsity boys soccer team is 4-1-2 in the preseason.

Last week, the Spartans rebounded from a 1-1 draw against Greenfield by winning three straight.

“Last Monday we beat King City 2-1, with goals from Miguel Ibarra and Ulisses Mancillas,” said Gonzales head coach Miguel Vidauri. “Two days later we defeated Alisal with goals from Emmanuel Valdez and Omar Gonzalez.”

Last Friday, the Spartans defeated Rancho San Juan 2-1 with goals from Omar Gonzalez and George Uribe, with an assist from Jose Camacho. Israel Saldana scored the only goal for King City in the Gonzales game with a header.

The Spartans will close out the month of December with a game against the Palma Chieftains on Friday. Gonzales is currently ranked fourth in the tri-state area.

The King City High boys soccer team defeated the North Monterey County Condors 3-1 on Dec. 11 in Castroville with goals from Deon Rodriguez and Emmanuel Cruz. On December 13, the Mustangs finished with a 2-2 tie against North Salinas. Ernesto Aguirre and Aviel Gomez scored the goals for King City.

King City (1-3) played at Soledad on Tuesday night and hosts Everett Alvarez on Thursday night.

The Soledad High girls soccer team improved to 6-1 in the preseason after winning three games and losing one at the Harold S. Young Tournament in Clovis last week.

Soledad began the tournament last Friday with two games, defeating Yosemite 4-0, followed by a 4-0 loss to Sanger. The Lady Aztecs bounced back with a 5-2 victory over Pioneer Valley on Saturday and defeated Justin Garza 2-0 in the afternoon.

“Over the course of the tournament, Mariana Leon collected 52 saves,” said Soledad head coach Victor Garcia. “Nichole Gonzalez scored two goals with one assist, Michelle Aguilar scored one goal and Vanessa Aguilar had two goals and four assists. Giselle Zepeda and Myrin Amilpa scored two goals each and Maria Sanchez and Michelle Campos scored one goal each.”

Soledad will host Gonzales on Wednesday.

The Spartan girls have competed in the Fremont Firebird Classic tournament in recent weeks, playing Prospect (6-1 loss), Nueva School (6-1 loss), Half Moon Bay (7-0 loss) and the Played Pinewood School (4-1 win). They next played at Everett Alvarez on Monday before playing Soledad this week.
