Former Alabama Crimson Tide assistant coach Charles Kelly will be named the next head coach of the Jacksonville State Gamecocks, according to multiple reports.

Kelly, who will now reportedly replace former Jacksonville State head coach Rich Rodriguez, recently spent the 2024 season with the Auburn Tigers as a safeties coach while also serving as co-defensive coordinator. This was Kelly’s only season at Auburn.

Before Auburn, Kelly served as defensive coordinator for one season with the Colorado Buffaloes and before that spent four seasons at Alabama as an assistant on Nick Saban’s staff from 2019-2022. At Alabama, Kelly served as assistant defensive coordinator and safeties coach.

Kelly also served as an assistant coach over the years with the Florida State Seminoles, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and Tennessee Volunteers, as well as two public high schools in Alabama, Central-Phenix City and Eufaula.
