Former Bears coach Matt Eberflus makes a friendly statement after historic firing

Although he became the first head coach in Chicago Bears After being fired midway through the season, Matt Eberflus had kind words for the organization following his firing on Friday.

Eberflus was fired after the Bears’ disastrous loss to the Detroit Lions Thanksgiving Day. He met with reporters Friday morning and expressed his belief that he will remain head coach and that he is focused on the team’s Week 13 game against the San Francisco 49ers.

Just a few hours later, Eberflus was fired.

“After meeting with (Chairman) George (H. McCaskey) and (President and CEO) Kevin (Warren), we communicated with Matt this morning to our football team leadership and head coach of our decision to move in a different direction.” position,” Bears general manager Ryan Poles said in a statement.

“I would like to thank Matt for his hard work, professionalism and commitment to our organization. We thank him for his commitment to the Chicago Bears and wish him and his family all the best for the future.”

Some on social media called out the Bears over the timing of Eberflus’ firing after he made comments about the scheduling the 49ersbut the coach released a statement on Saturday expressing his “heartfelt gratitude.”

Eberflus also thanked the fan base for their “support and passion” and left kind words for his players.
