Dan + Shay caused a stir in season 25 when they sat in the double chair for the first time The voice. Instead of sitting in their big red chairs, they took to the stage to perform two festive new singles.

Dan + Shay are back – sort of

After Asher HaVon brought the Season 25 crown to trainer Reba McEntire, the “I Can’t” legend returned The voice to defend their title. Experienced coach Gwen Stefani also returned after a season break and newcomers Michael Bublé and Snoop Dogg completed the squad.

Pull out all the stops, The voice brought together a top-class line-up of artists for its two-part finale. Among other things, the coaches of the 25th season, Dan + Shay, were on site to get the audience in the Christmas spirit. The three-time Grammy Award winners performed “Officially Christmas” from their album It’s Officially Christmas: The Double Album.

“It’s Officially Christmas” has been a long time coming

Although this is their first official Christmas album, Dan + Shay have been releasing Christmas songs on and off since 2014. So they had more than enough material for a full record – and that’s why It’s officially Christmas When it was released on October 18th, it featured a whopping 21 songs.

“You know, our fans have been begging for this for ten years. And I feel like we let them down every year,” Shay Mooney said in a recent interview. “We teased a little bit: ‘Maybe this will be the right year,’ but we didn’t let it happen.

In fact, fans first heard the track “Pick Out a Christmas Tree” in 2022. Dan Smyers says he and Mooney were inspired by their families’ Christmas traditions.

“We wanted to be able to have a soundtrack for every time they pick out a Christmas tree, whether it’s at the corner store, whether it’s at a Christmas tree farm or in their backyard,” Smyers said. “This is the song they need to turn it up.”
