Former Detroit Lions RB Ty Johnson has a big first half for Bills

Detroit – Ty Johnson never had his big moment with Detroit.

But on Sunday afternoon, he had his first big moment — moments, actually — in Detroit.

Johnson, a sixth-round pick of the Lions in the 2019 draft who has been in the league since 2020, had nearly 100 receiving yards for the Buffalo Bills in the first half at Ford Field as the Bills took a 21-14 lead into halftime.

Former Lions running back Ty Johnson (26) had four catches for 95 yards in the Bills' first half on Sunday.

In the first half, Johnson, a Maryland graduate, had four catches for 95 yards and was Josh Allen’s favorite target early on. His biggest catch came early in the second quarter when the Bills scored on fourth-and-2 from the Lions’ 49-yard line. Allen found Johnson wide open on the right side for the easy first down, a 31-yard gain and eventual touchdown.
