Former My Chemical Romance drummer Bob Bryar has been found dead aged 44

The former drummer of a popular rock band has died at the age of 44.

TMZ reports that Bob Bryar, My Chemical Romance’s longest-serving drummer, was found dead in his Tennessee home on Tuesday. A cause of death has not been released, but foul play is not suspected.

According to TMZ, Bryar was last seen alive on November 4th. Animal control was reportedly called to the home to remove two dogs after his badly decomposed body was discovered.

Bryar was the drummer for My Chemical Romance from 2004 to 2010 and appeared on the alternative rock/emo/punk group’s legendary album The Black Parade. He also co-wrote the songs on the 2010 release “Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys” with the hit single “Na Na Na (Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na Na)”.

Bryar and other MCR members, including singer Gerard Way and guitarist Ray Toro, were injured while filming the music video for “Famous Last Words” in 2006. Bryar suffered third-degree burns and several concerts were canceled due to his medical problems.

According to the New York Post, Bryar was previously a sound engineer for The Used, replacing original MCR drummer Matt Pelissier while the two bands were on tour in 2004. After leaving My Chemical Romance, he worked on other bands’ tours before turning his attention to the real estate industry, according to TMZ.

My Chemical Romance has not commented on Bryar’s death. The band reunited for a tour without Bryar in 2022 and has a handful of “Long Live the Black Parade” concerts planned next year.
