Former NBA champ says Caitlin Clark would lose badly in a 1-on-1 fight against Bronny James

Even after all she’s won and accomplished, Caitlin Clark still has her haters.

When Clark entered the WNBA last year, she had to deal with a lot of criticism and ultimately proved all her critics wrong after she completed a historic rookie season. The Indiana Fever star will likely only get better from here, equipped with a new, experienced coach in Stephanie White and a team that is in the playoffs for the first time since 2016.

Despite Clark’s emerging dominance in women’s basketball, she would have no chance against a G League player like Bronny James, according to former NBA All-Star Jeff Teague.

Teague, a 12-year veteran who won a championship with the Milwaukee Bucks, believes Clark would be badly beaten by the Los Angeles Lakers’ rookie in a hypothetical 1-on-1 contest.

“Caitlin wouldn’t score a point against Bronny, bro,” Teague said on the website Club 520 Podcast (at 3:00 in the video). “Maybe she won’t even get a shot off, bro… He’d beat her by 60 (points). He would actually beat them 20-0. Bryce James would beat them 20-0.

“That’s my whole point, he’s ten times more athletic than her. He can do everything better than her. She’s a girl, bro… She’s a hooper, but no, bro, she’s a man.”

Teague also said he believed Clark could only beat “high school kids.”

Teague’s co-hosts objected to his take, saying that they thought Clark could at least compete with Division I men’s college hoopers, but Teague firmly rejected this.

Clark, who turns 23 in January, recently added another accolade to her glittering resume full of accolades, most notably including WNBA Rookie of the Year and NCAA Division I men’s and women’s scoring titles. Her No. 22 jersey for Iowa will be retired on Feb. 2 at Carver-Hawkeye Arena.
