Former OKC Thunder guard fills stat sheet in narrow loss on Christmas Day

The Oklahoma City Thunder have been left off the NBA Christmas list. This is the league’s biggest day of the calendar year, with even casual NBA fans gathering around the television to watch the sport and the West’s best team pick up where they left off two years in a row.

However, the OKC Thunder have been around long enough to have gone through many players, and the memories of Hall of Famers coming and going come flooding back, some still in the league. San Antonio stars Chris Paul, who played for the Thunder in 2019-20 after starting his career in Bricktown with the Hornets – who had to relocate due to a hurricane – and was named rookie of the year in Oklahoma City.

Now the Spurs took on the New York Knicks at Madison Square Garden on Christmas Day to kick off the day of holiday games. The courageous San Antonio team threatened the Knicks until the end before falling 117-114.

The former Thunder guard filled the statistics with 13 points, seven assists, six rebounds and one steal. That includes a 3-for-6 night from beyond the arc in his 36 minutes of action.

Cameron Payne, another former Oklahoma City guard, played five minutes, had two points, one assist, two turnovers and shot 1-for-3 in New York’s win.
