Former Stanford quarterback Ashton Daniels is committed to Auburn football

Another quarterback domino has fallen in Auburn football.

Former Stanford signal-caller Ashton Daniels committed to the Tigers on Monday, announcing his commitment in a post on Instagram with On3’s Hayes Fawcett. He becomes the second transfer quarterback to help fill the void in Auburn’s thin quarterback room, joining Oklahoma transfer Jackson Arnold.

Daniels spent three seasons at Stanford and was a starter the last two years. During his career in Palo Alto, he threw for 3,986 yards, 21 touchdowns and 20 interceptions.

During the 2024 season, Daniels threw for 1,700 yards, 10 touchdowns and 12 interceptions while completing 62.7% of his passes. A dual-threat quarterback, he also ran for 669 yards and three touchdowns in 2024.

With the departures of Payton Thorne, Hank Brown, Holden Geriner and the reported expected transfer of Walker White, Auburn could add yet another quarterback to the transfer portal.

Signing Daniels would give Auburn three scholarship quarterbacks, one less than the number Hugh Freeze wanted on the roster at the start of the season. He will join Arnold and 2025 signee Deuce Knight.
