Four observations on FC Bayern Munich’s dramatic 0-1 defeat against Bayer Leverkusen in the DFB Cup

FC Bayern Munich has once again ended its DFB Cup season prematurely. A trophy they have not won since the 2019-2020 season.

Bayern Munich is desperate for a trophy

After Bayern Munich hasn’t won any trophies in what feels like an eternity, only the Bundesliga and the Champions League have to fight for possible trophies this season. The defeat in the Bundesliga last season and now the difficulties in the DFB Cup are increasing the pressure on the club considerably.

Shocker: Red cards make life difficult

Manuel Neuer’s early red card made life more difficult than necessary The Werkself. The reduction to 10 men can be a challenge against any club, let alone Xabi Alonso’s side. Still, what an effort Bayern Munich made in defeating a man for so long. Vincent Kompany obviously practiced something with the team.

Florian Wirtz is needed at FC Bayern Munich

Since returning from a nearly year-long injury layoff early in his career, Wirtz hasn’t wasted a single game without making a name for himself. The 21-year-old is undoubtedly one of the greatest talents of this generation and has proven to shine alongside Bayern’s Jamal Musiala. Apart from Musiala and Kane, the rest of Bayern’s offense is simply not doing enough at the moment. If Bayern can only make one new signing in the next three years, it should be him.

No Kane, no party

As I just said, the attack just doesn’t do enough. Without Musiala and Kane, fans can only imagine where Bayern Munich would be right now. It seems as if only a handful of players are of Bayern quality at the moment.
