The reason for Greg Gutfeld’s mysterious absence from Fox News has been explained, and fans certainly weren’t expecting it.

Greg, 60, hasn’t appeared on Fox News’ “The Five” in quite some time, leading many fans to speculate whether the longtime network had fired him.

However, it wasn’t the news anchor who was fired, but rather something much more shocking – at least to fans – as was all revealed on Tuesday’s episode of “The Five” on Fox News.

Greg’s co-host Dana Perino shared a statement from him announcing that he and his wife of 20 years, Elena Moussa, 42, had welcomed a baby girl.

“This will come as a big surprise to many of you,” Dana began, pointing out, “You may have noticed that our friend Greg Gutfeld hasn’t been here in a few weeks, and for good reason.”

The message ended with reference to his beloved French bulldog: “As you can understand, we value our privacy and thank everyone for the well wishes. And now I have to stop Gus from licking her face.”

While the political commentator was inundated with many messages from fans wishing him congratulations, others admitted they were stunned by the news.

Greg and Elena met in London when she was working as a photo editor for the men’s magazine Maxim. From 2004 to 2006 he was editor of the British edition.

The couple married in 2004 and moved to New York City.
