Frank Grillo explains his new horror film and why they had to “tone it down.”

Frank Grillo exaggerates the violence in his new horror film Werewolves. Werewolves is a creature-based horror film about a duo of scientists who work to stop a mutation that turns humans into werewolves a full year after encountering a supermoon. The film was directed by Steven C. Miller and written by Matthew Kennedy. The main cast includes Grillo, Katrina Law, Ilfenesh Hadera, James Michael Cummings, Lou Diamond Phillips, Kamdynn Gary, Lydia Styslinger and James Kyson. Werewolves The release is scheduled for this Friday, December 6th.

In an exclusive interview with Screen rant, Grillo reveals why Werewolves had to be reverted from the original version. When Grillo read the script, he called the director and said the film was like this:The Purge meets werewolves.” Due to the level of violence in the film, the Werewolves Team had to “mitigate something.” Check out Grillo’s full quote below:

Yeah, I keep saying it, I read the script, I called him right away and said, “Brother, this is The Purge meets Werewolves.” I specifically said, Anarchy, it feels like Anarchy meets Werewolves . And we’ve said it a few times, we had to tone it down a bit. We had to adjust the script a little so that it wasn’t too reminiscent of Purge, but that’s how I described the film because I know how many people love those Purge films, especially Anarchy and Election. If you like these films, you will love this film. It has all that, plus werewolves, and that’s it. That’s what attracted me to it. I know this world, I know how to do it.

The Purge similarities could be good

Grillo’s involvement The Purge Franchise is particularly one reason why the Werewolves The team may have had to tweak the film’s script. Grillo entered the horror first franchise in 2014 when he played sergeant The Purge: Anarchy. He was a fan favorite in this film and has become a staple The Purge franchise since then. Because of this experience, audiences would already be inclined to compare Grillo’s work The Purge with that of Werewolveswhich justifies the need to distinguish the two films.

Still, Grillo promises an audience that will enjoy it The Purge: Anarchy And Election year will “I love this movie (Werewolves)” is promising. Grillo’s Clean The films could adopt the name of the existing horror franchise and benefit from returning viewers for the new installments. Werewolves hopes to capture the interest of a new audiencewhich is a much more difficult task. If the film is similar enough The PurgeAs the actor promises, it could be what horror fans need to be drawn to this new Grillo film.

Our interpretation of Grillo’s werewolf explanation

The premise is very different from the Purge

It’s interesting to hear Grillo make a comparison between the two Werewolves And The Purgebecause at first glance, The two films do not have similar premises. The Purge is something of a political fable in the packaging of a horror film, capturing a narrative about what could happen if the world collapsed into a government-sanctioned anarchist state. There’s nothing inherently political about werewolves, which makes for a film that’s seemingly different from them The Purge. Still, it will be interesting to see what aspects of the film overlap, even if Werewolves had to”weaken it.”
