Frito-Lay is recalling Lay’s classic potato chips

Frito-Lay recalled a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips on Dec. 16, according to an alert from the Food and Drug Administration. The chips were distributed to various stores and online outlets in Oregon and Washington, with customers able to purchase the snacks beginning November 3, 2024.

Lay’s Classic Potato Chips were the only ones affected by the recall. There are no other products, flavors, sizes or variety packs involved.

Why are Lay’s potato chips recalled?

The chips may contain undeclared milk, Frito-Lay said after being informed by a consumer.

“Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of experiencing a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the recalled product,” the FDA says.

No allergic reactions have been reported in connection with the recall.

Which Lay’s potato chips are affected?

The recalled chips are in 13-ounce flexible bags with UPC codes 28400 and 31041. The affected bags must have a Guaranteed Fresh date of February 11, 2025 and one of the following two manufacturing codes: 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

What should you do if you have a recalled product?

Individuals with a recalled bag may contact Frito-Lay Consumer Relations at 1-800-352-4477, Monday through Friday between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. CST.

Anyone who is allergic or sensitive to milk should not eat the chips and throw away the affected bags.
