Frito-Lay is voluntarily recalling some Lay’s classic potato chips due to undeclared allergens

Frito-Lay has issued a voluntary recall for some bags of its Lay’s Classic potato chips that may contain undeclared dairy ingredients.

The Plano, Texas-based food manufacturer announced this week in a statement, also posted on the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s website, that it is releasing “a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic Potato Chips “that could contain undeclared milk,” recalled milk after being notified by a consumer contact.”

“Individuals with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk are at risk of experiencing a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume the product contained in the recalled pouches,” the company said.

Frito-Lay has issued a recall for a limited number of 13-ounce bags of Lay’s Classic potato chips.

The products affected by this recall were distributed to “retail stores and e-commerce merchants in Oregon and Washington,” according to Frito-Lay, and consumers “could have purchased these chips as early as November 3, 2024.”

According to the company’s official recall website, recalled products carry a “Guaranteed Fresh” date of February 11, 2025 and the UPC code 28400 31041. The recalled 13-ounce bags, which are yellow and have a red Lay’s logo and a blue “Party Size” banners also carry the manufacturing codes 6462307xx or 6463307xx.

According to the company, no other Lay’s products, flavors, sizes or variety packs are affected by this recall.

At the time of publication, no illnesses have been reported by Frito-Lay in connection with this recall.

“If consumers have a milk allergy or sensitivity, they should not consume the product and discard it immediately,” Frito-Lay said this week, noting that it has “informed the FDA of this action.”
