FromSoftware introduces a new Elden Ring game

FromSoftware, the studio, that just this month said it “won’t really consider developments like this Elden Ring 2,“has revealed a game that looks very much like it could be Elden Ring 2.

Elden Ring Nightreign is the next entry in the Elden Ring Series. The trailer, which debuted during this year’s The Game Awards, didn’t reveal many narrative details, but according to the game’s official announcement, it doesn’t look like game director Hidetaka Miyzaki was lying. Night Reign goes in a completely different gameplay direction than the base game and that Shadow of the Earth Tree DLC. Described as an action survival game, Night Reign is a standalone co-op multiplayer game in which up to three players can work together to survive a single day in a parallel universe to the Lands Between.

Players, called Nightfarers, have up to eight different characters to choose from, each with unique abilities and ultimate attacks. Every day they have to fight their way through a series of monsters before finally facing a tough boss.

While we don’t yet know when this will happen in the Lands Between chronology, the trailer showed off a lot of gameplay. It seems similar Elden Ring but with a greater emphasis on aggressive, sweeping martial arts moves rather than the slower, more thoughtful fights Elden Ring And Earth tree. The announcement also mentioned an ever-changing map that gets smaller with each passing day, as well as skills and equipment that players can use to customize their characters after death. All in all, it sounds a bit like FromSoftware Hades Chocolate in the Elden Ring Peanut butter with a dash Fortnite cooperative and Overwatch Hero classes for taste.

FromSoftware has so far only confirmed Xbox, PlayStation and PC platforms and, surprisingly, a release date. Elden Ring Nightreign will be released sometime next year.
