Frost warnings are in effect for the Phoenix metropolitan area

PHOENIX (AZFamily)— This weekend will see the coolest mornings in about a year. Freeze warnings are in effect until 9 a.m. this morning for portions of southern and western Arizona, including areas such as Pinal County. This does not apply to metro Phoenix. However, frost warnings are in effect for the Phoenix metropolitan area on Sunday morning, making the first part of Sunday a First Alert Weather day.

A wind advisory is in effect for western Arizona, including locations such as Bullhead City and Lake Havasu City, from this morning through Sunday afternoon. Gusts of around 40 to 50 mph are possible.

After a cool morning, highs will reach around 64° this afternoon. Tonight into early Sunday morning, temperatures will drop into the upper 30s in Phoenix, but could reach the low 30s in other parts of the valley in places like Scottsdale, Chandler and Mesa. Sunday afternoon will see highs in the upper 60s.

The night from Sunday to Monday morning will also be cool. Areas where there is no frost on Sunday morning could see frost on Monday morning, with low temperatures in the valley falling below 30 degrees.

Highs will reach the mid-60s Monday afternoon, followed by another cool night into Tuesday morning, although perhaps not as cool as Monday morning. A cutoff low pressure may develop across our southwest Tuesday through mid-weed. This could result in a milder southerly flow into our area and likely warm afternoon temperatures. We forecast low 70s Tuesday and mid 70s Wednesday afternoon.
