Frosty morning, mild afternoon for Atlanta’s Celebration Bowl

At the start of the game, temperatures will be 52 degrees, but because of the wind they will feel like 48 degrees, said Brad Nitz, chief meteorologist for Channel 2 Action News. The afternoon high temperature in the city will reach 54 degrees.

By the time fans are ready to leave the stadium, temperatures will still be in the low to mid 50s.

Morning temperatures will only drop to the mid to high 40s. If you’re walking tight, you may find it comfortable to just wear a jacket, but be aware that there won’t be much sunshine.

Although it will be a mostly cloudy day, there is only a slight chance of rain in the forecast. Nitz said a scattered rain was possible in the afternoon, but most of the rain would move into northern Georgia during the evening and continue into Sunday morning.

In addition to planning an outfit that’s warm enough, you may also want to consider how you’re going to get to the game. Atlanta police are warning drivers about high parking fees, limited parking and traffic.

“Use MARTA or a rideshare service to reduce traffic congestion and parking issues. This is particularly recommended if you plan to drink alcohol,” police spokeswoman Teralyn Griffin said in an email.

If you decide to drive, do not leave valuables such as weapons, wallets, bags, jewelry or laptops in your vehicle. Officials are also asking people not to leave their unoccupied vehicles running and to never leave keys inside.

“By following these guidelines and taking advantage of the enhanced public safety measures, you will help ensure a safer and more enjoyable experience for yourself and others in the city,” Griffin added.

If you’re planning on visiting MARTA and want to brush up on your driving skills, check out the agency’s YouTube video “How to Ride to Downtown Events.” For information about parking availability at stations, see the Key Station Parking Status section of the website at itsmarta.com/parking.
