REGARD – Fulham vs Bournemouth

Marco Silva’s Fulham secured one incredible late comeback with a 2-1 win at local rivals Chelsea on Boxing Day to secure their first top-flight win at Stamford Bridge since 1964. The Cottagers have so many great midfield and attacking options and are in the top four conversation at the halfway point of the season. Nobody predicted this at the beginning of the season. What a job Silva does.

Bournemouth are having an equally remarkable season, with Andoni Iraola’s side just a point behind Fulham. They drew 0-0 at home against Crystal Palace on Boxing Day as their offense continues to run hot and cold. When they are in action, Bournemouth are almost unstoppable with their high pressing style.

Fulham vs Bournemouth live updates – By Nick Mendola

Half time – Fulham 1-0 Bournemouth

This is a tough deficit for Bournemouth, who had slightly more possession and caused so much danger away from home.

The Cherries beat Fulham 9-4 and have almost a full xG more than the Cottagers.

Red card scream!

Antonee Robinson is knocked to the ground by a sliding Ryan Christie, who sees a yellow card.

The VAR looks, but it stays yellow.

Goal from Raul Jimenez! Fulham – Bournemouth 1-0 (40th minute)

A corner that was too easy for Raul Jimenez, who deflected his run clear of any markers and took an unbridled look at the goal.

The Mexican heads home and Fulham score before half-time.

Action at both ends

Antonee Robinson sweeps in a cross that Raul Jimenez almost volleys, only to see the ball knocked out of his path by Milos Kerkez.

Bournemouth go the other way and Evanilson shoots a shot just wide of the post.

Billing is warned for a cynical dismissal of Andrea Pereira.

0-0, 39′.

Semenyo stabs Leno

Phillip Billing introduces Antoine Semenyo on the left and the Ghanaian shoots a shot that Leno deflects with his left chest/shoulder.

This slows him down for a moment, ouch.

Bournemouth had the ball in the goal from the corner, but a pull from Semenyo on Joachim Andersen’s shirt prevented Justin Kluivert’s header.

0-0, 32′.

Cherries are in control

Bournemouth were the more dangerous side, with two extended periods of good play sandwiched around Wilson’s chances.

0-0, 20′.

Shooting continues, but all at the goalkeeper

Wilson has another attack from about 18 meters, but it hits right at Arrizabalaga.

Leno again, then Kepa

David Brooks gets a fake free throw and sends it flying with a good shot from 16 yards, but Leno bends down and collects the ball.

On the other hand, Harry Wilson fires a shot against his former club, but it gives Kepa Arrizabalaga little more than a jump shot.

0-0, 10′.

Early corner after Leno dodges

A bad back pass from the right gives Evanilson a 1 on 1 with Bernd Leno.

Evanilson’s contact with the ball is incomplete and Fulham keeper Bernd Leno hits the ball for a corner, which the Cottagers manage well.

0-0, 5′.

Fulham lineup

Leno, Castagne, Dop, Andersen, Bassey, Robinson, Lukic, Pereira, Wilson, Iwobi, Jimenez

Bournemouth lineup

Arrizabalaga, Kerkez, Huijsen, Zabaryni, Hill, Cook, Christie, Brooks, Philip, Semenyo, Evanilson

Fulham team news, focus

Silva switched to a 3-4-2-1 formation against Chelsea and it worked beautifully. Robinson and Castagne were excellent full-backs and the central defensive trio of Bassey, Andersen and Diop ruined everything. Fulham only changed their formation due to injuries in midfield and perhaps they have stumbled onto something.

OUT: Harrison Reed (knee), Reiss Nelson (hamstring), Kenny Tete (knee)| QUESTIONABLE: Emile Smith Rowe (leg), Sander Berge (ankle)

Bournemouth team news, focus

The Cherries have struggled with injuries in recent weeks but the squad players with Enes Unal, Dango Ouattara and Dean Huijsen are all impressive after joining the team. Bournemouth need Evanilson to get back among the goals.

Out: Alex Scott (knee), Julian Araujo (thigh), Marcos Senesi (thigh), Marcus Tavernier (thigh), Adam Smith (muscular), Justin Kluivert (suspension) | QUESTIONABLE: Luis Sinisterra (hamstring injury)

Prediction for Fulham vs Bournemouth

This has the potential to be an entertaining affair in a true back and forth battle. Add plenty of suspense and it even ends. Fulham 2-2 Bournemouth.
