Gal Gadot reveals she survived a brain blood clot during pregnancy

Gal Gadot opened up about a “terrible” medical crisis she endured during her eighth month of pregnancy. The actress revealed her experience in a lengthy Instagram post on Sunday night, admitting she struggled with whether she should “share a personal story.”

“In February, during my eighth month of pregnancy, I was diagnosed with a massive blood clot in my brain,” Gadot wrote. “For weeks I suffered from excruciating headaches that left me bedridden until I finally underwent an MRI scan which revealed the shocking truth. In a moment my family and I realized how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, I just wanted to persevere and live.”

After the diagnosis, Gadot was taken to the hospital for emergency surgery. She also gave birth to her daughter, now nine months old. “My daughter Ori was born in this moment of uncertainty and fear,” the actress shared. “Her name, which means ‘my light’, was not chosen by chance. Before the surgery, I told Jaron that she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel when our daughter arrived.”

In the post, Gadot also thanked the doctors who helped her during her recovery. “Today I am completely healed and full of gratitude for the life that has been given back to me,” she said. “The trip taught me so much. First, it is important to listen to our body and trust what it is telling us. Pain, discomfort, or even subtle changes often have a deeper meaning, and tuning into your body can be life-saving.”

She encouraged her followers to be aware of the symptoms and risks of blood clots in the brain during pregnancy. “I had no idea that three out of every 100,000 pregnant women in the age group over 30 will be diagnosed with cardiovascular disease (the development of a blood clot in the brain),” Gadot noted.

She added: “Sharing this is not meant to scare anyone, but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to do something about their health because of this story, it will be worth sharing.”

Gadot will next play Snow White’s evil stepmother in Disney’s upcoming live-action adaptation Snow White. The new version, an adaptation of the 1937 original, was directed by Marc Webb and features the original power ballad “Waiting on a Wish” by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, the songwriting duo behind it The greatest showman And La-La Land. Greta Gerwig and Erin Cressida wrote the script. The film will be released on March 21st.
