Gal Gadot opens up about her experience undergoing emergency surgery for a blood clot in her brain during pregnancy, which then led to the birth of her fourth daughter.

In a social media post Sunday evening, the “Wonder Woman” and “Fast and Furious” actress revealed that she was diagnosed with a “massive” brain blood clot while eight months pregnant with daughter Ori, who was born in March.

“I suffered from excruciating headaches that left me bedridden for weeks until I finally underwent an MRI that revealed the shocking truth,” Gadot wrote. “In a moment my family and I realized how fragile life can be. It was a stark reminder of how quickly everything can change, and in the midst of a difficult year, I just wanted to persevere and live.”

Gadot was then “taken to the hospital” and underwent emergency surgery, during which Ori was born. “Her name, which means ‘my light,’ was not chosen by chance,” Gadot continued. “Before the operation, I told Jaron that she would be the light waiting for me at the end of this tunnel when our daughter arrived. Thanks to an exceptional team of doctors at @cedarssinai and weeks of dedicated care, I made it and began the road to recovery. Today I am completely healed and full of gratitude for the life that has been given back to me.”

She said she decided to share her story at the end of the year to bring awareness to others who may be suffering from the same illness. “I had no idea that three out of 100,000 pregnant women in the age group over 30 are diagnosed with CVT (blood clot in the brain),” Gadot wrote. “It is so important to catch it early because it is treatable. Although rare, it is a possibility, and knowing it exists is the first step in addressing it. Sharing this is not meant to scare anyone, but to empower. If even one person feels compelled to do something about their health because of this story, it will be worth sharing.”

Gadot, who has four daughters with husband Jaron Varsano, will next be seen on screen as the evil queen in Disney’s live-action “Snow White.”
