Gators are on Early Signing Day, FloridaGators.com has you covered on Wednesday

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – In this new era of college football, the Gators’ head coach is Billy Napier and his staff have barely had time to change since their win at Florida State on Saturday night.

That’s because in the modernized 2024 recruiting calendar, Wednesday is officially Early Signing Day, although ESD has unofficially become National Signing Day since its inception in 2017. The Gators have signed 23 recruits in the ’25 class as of this writing and will add more players in the transfer portal when it opens December 9-28.

The Gators have carried their momentum on the field, where they finished the regular season 7-5 with wins over LSU, Ole Miss and Florida State in their final three games, onto the recruiting trail. Florida climbed to No. 11 in the On3.com Industry and 247Sports.com Composite rankings.

“We’ve done a good job evaluating players and recruiting,” Napier said after Saturday’s win over the Seminoles, securing his first winning season at UF. “That wasn’t our problem here.” We had to prove ourselves on the pitch, prove to the recruits that we can teach and develop players and that our formula works. There’s nothing better for recruiting than winning.”

Now with a true freshman quarterback DJ Lagway As the centerpiece of the roster for next season, the Gators are in a good position to attract talented players. Lagway is 5-1 as Florida’s starting quarterback and played a key role in the team’s resurgence after a 1-2 start.

He wants to help lead the Gators to more than just the end zone.

“I will definitely be involved in the transfer portal and recruiting class,” Lagway said. “The most important thing is to keep the guys we have here. “We’re making sure everyone stays on top of things and we can add to and build on this momentum that we have.”
