The stars show up on Hoda Kotb’s last day Today show!

The final on Friday, January 10th Today with Hoda and Jenna The episode began with what Jenna Bush Hager joked was a Hoda lookalike contest, where Gayle King surprised Kotb — and also brought home a hilarious gift.

King, 70, and Kotb, 60, reflected on how often the two of them are mistaken for each other — so much so that King said she was photographed arriving at 30 Rock for Hoda-Bration by someone who assumed , she was Kotb – which gave rise to this CBS Morning Anchor to present Kotb with a gift.

King gave Kotb a t-shirt with a photo of her on the front that said “Hoda” and a photo of King on the back that said “Not Hoda.”

“Everywhere I go people stop me and say, ‘Hoda, good luck on your next chapter, we’re so happy for you, say hello to Jenna.’ Just today when I walked into this building – I swear to God – someone said, “Hey, can I take a picture of you?” And he took it and I said, “Who do you think I am?” And he said : ‘You’re Hoda,'” King said.

Kotb could understand that. “This happens to me every time I’m at the airport,” she said. “And they say, ‘And we love your best friend!’ And I’m like, ‘You know my best friend?’ And they’re like, ‘Oprah!'”

“Honestly, Hoda, it’s a huge compliment for me to be mistaken for you,” King said. “I’m so excited that she’s doing this on her own terms.”

“I think it’s great, but we also know it’s not like sitting at home making bon bons,” she continued, teasing what’s next for Kotb. “So I just wanted to be here to cheer you on.”

“Yeah, Gayle, I got some good stuff,” Kotb said with a wink.

Hager previously told PEOPLE about her partner of more than five years: “She’s the best partner. She was the most generous partner and we are really really good friends. The thought of her not being here is almost too much to bear.”

“Of course, I’ve had months to deal with this, although I can’t promise that our final ‘Hoda-bration’ won’t be filled with tears,” she admitted. “I’m sure it’s just because there’s nothing I can do about it.”

We look ahead to the fate of the 10 o’clock hour that is now called Today with Jenna & FriendsHager said she hopes to be as “generous” as Kotb.

“Every joke I say is funny because of Hoda. She gives me courage. She knows how to make me shine. She is so positive. She is so happy. She says “thank you” and “please” and everything I want “A girlfriend. She is kind and generous to each and every one of our employees. And she knows it’s important – the tone she sets,” she said.

“I think we did it together, but knowing that this is my responsibility is a privilege and a great responsibility. I learned from the best. And what big shoes I have to fill because her optimism is just beautiful.”
