There is a state of emergency in California due to the wildfires that have already killed two people – and now General Hospital Star Cameron Mathison (Drew Quartermaine) has revealed a heartbreaking update about his own home.

Wildfires in California are causing devastating damage

“We’re safe,” Mathison began the caption, which accompanied a video on Instagram, “but this is what’s left of our beautiful home.” Our home where our children grew up and where they will one day live wanted to raise their own.” In the video he shows the remains of his once beautiful house and a single water feature that has remained standing.

Yesterday, the actor posted a video on his Instagram Stories showing the sunny sky contrasting with the blustery winds in his neighborhood. A few hours later, as night fell, he posted another video, this time of raging fires, and wrote, “Thank you for all the love and care,” adding, “We are evacuated and safe.” Prayers that everyone can say the same.”

The actor wrote about the outpouring of support he has received from others. β€œThank you to everyone who reached out and got in touch. I can’t respond to everyone so I wanted to give an update here,” he wrote, adding, “Sending so many prayers to everyone affected by these firesπŸ™πŸΌ.”

Mathison, who announced his separation from wife Vanessa Mathison (ex-Mia, GH) last summer, bought the home in 2012, the Mathisons told the Los Angeles Times this year: β€œWe look forward to living in this house for the next 30 years.”

The couple have two children together, son Lucas and daughter Leila, both of whom are studying abroad; Lucas is England at Central St Martins at the University of the Arts London studying fashion design, while Leila is studying psychology at the American University in Paris. Lucas was back at school after spending the holidays at home. Leila was still in town, but not in the house, as she had also been home during the last vacation.

GH co-star Laura Wright (Carly) commented on Mathison’s post: “Oh I’m so sorry my dear friend. Thank God you’re all safe.” Bradford Anderson (Spinelli) reiterated, “I’m very sorry, buddy. Unreal.” “I love you πŸ’”,” wrote Alicia Minshew, Mathison’s former All my children Love interest (she played Kendall Hart to his Ryan Lavery). Another AMC alum, Aiden Turner (ex-Aidan), wrote, “Sorry Cam, it’s a terrible situation for you and everyone there. I’m glad you’re well and alive bro πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™.” Candace Cameron Bure, who is working with Mathison on films for Great American Family, wrote: “I love you β€οΈπŸ™πŸ» we’re here for you. β€œFormer The Wonder Years Star Danica McKellar, Mathison’s co-star in the Hallmark film Very, very Valentinecommented: β€œI am praying fervently for you and everyone affected!! πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™β€ Former Days of our lives Star Jen Lilley (ex-Theresa) wrote: β€œOh my god! I am so sorry. This is so terrible.”
