The Seattle Seahawks got the last win of this year’s edition Football on Thursday evenings with their 6-3 win over the Chicago Bears. It may not have been the most exciting win ever, but a win is a win in this league, no matter how you want to quantify it.

For quarterback Geno Smith, however, it wasn’t just a single win. In fact, Seattle’s game against the Bears was the first time Smith won a game on Thursday night. Entering Week 17 on Thursday, Smith was 0-7. This includes the loss of a Week 6 game against the San Francisco 49ers earlier this season, as well as the loss of three other TNF games from the last two years.

Smith didn’t exactly turn heads on the scoreboard, but neither did the rest of the offense. Overall, Smith was efficient as usual, completing 17 of 23 passes for 160 yards. He didn’t have a touchdown, but he didn’t turn the ball over. Although it wasn’t exactly a game that fans will remember fondly, Smith shares my personal opinion that a win counts above all else.

“It won’t always be sunshine and rainbows” the Seahawks starter stated during the postgame press conference. “Erasing a 6-3 win feels just as good as winning the game 44-41. It’s all good to get wins.”
