George Pickens sends a clear message about the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense after their loss to the Ravens

BALTIMORE – The Pittsburgh Steelers offense has retooled this offseason. They fired offensive coordinator Matt Canada and completely revamped the quarterback room. Although they were better, they still fell far short of expectations.

Wide receiver George Pickens is easily the most talented wide receiver on the team, but the Steelers haven’t used him much under offensive coordinator Arthur Smith. This continued as Pickens was sidelined for most of the final two weeks of the season.

So Pickens was asked if he saw any growth on offense since his time with the Steelers. He said he has seen progress.

“Yeah, I definitely saw signs of growth. There’s definitely been a lot more growth since the first year I’ve been here,” Pickens said.

However, when asked if he was optimistic about the future of the team’s offense, he replied, “No.” That’s a resounding answer from one of the offense’s best players. Additionally, Pickens wants a contract this offseason and can certainly dictate what he wants from a contract and what the market value is before finalizing it.

The Steelers need to decide what they want to do with Pickens’ future, but the offense needs a major retool to add talent to it, and Pickens’ statement reflects that.
