Georgia DB Daylen Everette grabs the tip-drill INT as Texas WR Isaiah Bond watches

Georgia’s defense has wreaked havoc since kickoff of Saturday’s SEC championship game between the No. 5 Bulldogs and the No. 2 Texas Longhorns.

A few tipped passes didn’t result in a turnover as Texas moved the ball down the field, but then another tipped ball eventually led to the Bulldogs gaining possession.

As you can see below, Georgia DB Daylen Everette threw the ball in the air and then caught it in front of Texas WR Isaiah Bond, who just watched the action before pushing Everette out of bounds following the interception:

Bond could face some criticism from the coaching staff during filming next week. But the good news for Bond and the Longhorns was that the defense held Georgia to 0 points on the ensuing drive.

Texas has struggled to open possessions this year. Here’s a look at the Longhorns’ opening drives:

  • 4 strokes
  • 4 turnovers
  • 2 missed field goals
  • 3 touchdowns

So it wasn’t all bad, as they did get the three touchdowns on the opening drive, but the fact that 10 of their first 13 drives ended with no points isn’t great. The Longhorns need to get off to a good start in their first drive of the playoffs or they could be in trouble.
