ATHENS – We know Georgia is in the College Football Playoff because the Bulldogs have the No. 2 seed. We know they will play against the winner No. 7 Notre Dame-No. will play. 10Indiana.

And now we know a game time and TV network. Georgia’s College Football Playoff quarterfinal game will be broadcast on ABC on January 1 at 8:45 p.m. ET.

The Notre Dame-Indiana game will be played on Friday, December 20th at 8:00 p.m. ET. Notre Dame will host this game as the higher seed. The four first-round hosts are Texas, Penn State, Notre Dame and Ohio State.

Georgia will play in the Sugar Bowl after winning the SEC championship game on Saturday. The Bulldogs defeated Texas 22-19 and won in overtime.

The Bulldogs will have more rest because of the bye. Given the Bulldogs’ injuries to quarterback Carson Beck and punter Brett Thorson, Georgia could certainly use the rest.

“We could use a bye,” outside linebacker Jalon Walker said. “We had a pretty long season and I felt like we were going to use it to our advantage to get healthy, game plan and just give ourselves time to readjust and get ready for our game.”

Georgia last played Notre Dame in 2019, with that game played in Athens. Georgia played and defeated Notre Dame in the 1981 Sugar Bowl, allowing Georgia to win the 1980 National Championship. Georgia has never played Indiana.

Should Georgia win in the Sugar Bowl, the Bulldogs would play SMU, Penn State and Boise State. Semifinal dates and locations have not yet been announced, but games will be played on January 9th and 10th in Miami and Dallas.
