Georgia football is getting the last laugh from the College Football Playoff committee

All season long, the rest of the country did not believe in this Georgian football team. The entire country didn’t believe UGA was a serious threat to win a national championship, and they definitely didn’t believe Georgia could pull off that win in the SEC championship game against Texas.

But Georgia did what they always do and proved everyone wrong by defeating No. 2 Texas 22-19 in overtime.

While many people doubted this Georgia football team, perhaps no one doubted it more or respected it more than the College Football Playoff Committee. But after all that disrespect this season, Georgia is getting the last laugh as the CFP committee now has no choice but to respect the Bulldogs.

After Georgia’s loss to Ole Miss last month, the CFP committee insanely dropped Georgia to No. 12 in its rankings. That left UGA outside the 12-team bracket with just three games remaining. This was a clear message from the committee that they didn’t think Georgia was good enough to compete in the playoffs and that if they lost one more game, they might keep them out of the playoffs altogether.

So what did Kirby Smart and Georgia do? Dominated a top-10 Tennessee team at home the next week and followed up with wins over UMass and Georgia Tech. Those three wins to close out the regular season were probably good enough to secure Georgia a spot in the CFP despite a loss in the SEC championship game, but Georgia wasn’t going to settle for just barely making it.

Georgia defeated Texas as underdogs for the second time this season, showing the entire college football world that they are a real threat to win a national championship this season. And now, after all this disrespect from the CFP Committee, there is only one thing left for them to do.

Give Georgia the 2nd seed in the playoff round.

Oregon will be the No. 1 seed after going 13-0 and winning the Big Ten Championship, but the No. 2 seed belongs to Georgia. And the committee that so obviously dislikes Georgia and wanted to punish them at every opportunity must now respect UGA and give them the No. 2 overall seed in their playoffs.
