Georgia football linebacker Jalon Walker has won the Butkus Award.

The Georgia Bulldogs won the SEC conference title against Texas in another overtime thriller last week and are now focused on the playoffs. As the 2024 regular season ends, season award giving begins and Georgia linebacker Jalon Walker has won the 2024 Butkus Award, given to the best linebacker in the country.

Walker is the third Bulldog to win the award and the third since 2017. Roquan Smith and Nakobe were the other two previous winners.

Walker was a standout defensive player for the Bulldogs this year. In 13 games, he recorded 57 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and 6.5 sacks. These are all career highlights for Walker. He showcased his ability to both play and cover as a linebacker, but also handle the pass rush. An all-rounder who delivered big for the Dawgs this year, putting together a memorable and remarkable season.

Georgia has made a name for themselves over the years not only because of the outstanding linebacker production they possess each season, but also because of the rate at which they develop them. Walker has become one of the latest examples of both.
