Georgia football’s top transfer portal destination is currently attending UGA

In the transfer portal it has become clear who the main target of Georgian football is. Kirby Smart and UGA originally targeted Georgia Tech wide receiver Eric Singleton Jr., but there is no longer any interest there after the zero price for Singleton rose to a level Georgia was unwilling to pay.

But that’s okay because Georgia has a few other wide receiver targets they’re very interested in, and one of those players is Kentucky wide receiver Dane Key. And it seems Key also has a lot of interest in Georgia as he is currently visiting Georgia according to his Instagram.

Kentucky transfer WR Dane Key

Key has had a very interesting recruiting experience so far. Georgia showed a lot of interest in Key immediately after entering the portal, so much so that On3 actually named Georgia as the leader of its recruitment. Even a recruiting expert at Rivals agreed that the Bulldogs were the team to beat.

That momentum didn’t last long, however, as Ole Miss became heavily involved in this recruitment and became the favorite, according to On3. But Georgia hasn’t given up, as Key is currently visiting Athens on Tuesday, December 17th.

It’s clear why Georgia has a lot of interest in Key, as he had an impressive career at Kentucky. Last season, Key recorded 47 receptions for 715 yards and two touchdowns. While that’s definitely not a lot of touchdowns, Key scored 12 touchdowns in his freshman and sophomore seasons, so he’s certainly capable of finding the end zone.

On3 still has Ole Miss as the favorite in this recruiting, but it will be interesting to see if that changes after his visit to Georgia. Regardless, Smart and his staff are working very hard to improve the wide receiver room, and there’s a strong chance they can land a commitment via transfer very soon.
