When will snow and ice come?

The snow and winter mix arrives between 4 and 8 a.m. Some of these will be strong through Friday morning.

During the day there will be mostly snow in the northern metropolis and the mountains of North Georgia, with some sleet and freezing rain. The further south you go, the more sleet, freezing rain, and even just rain will occur.

Gradually, from the south to the north, more and more freezing rain, sleet and rain will mix in from the late morning hours. The combination will result in more difficult travel on Friday afternoon and Friday evening.

The winter mix ends early Saturday morning. Temperatures will remain cold through Saturday and there will be little melting. Much of what falls sticks until Sunday morning.
