The segment inspired a Hulu series announced last year, but this time it’s Glen Powell in the Powers role, not Manning. The premise of this show is also different, as this time Chad Powers is not the pseudonym of a two-time Super Bowl MVP, but rather the fake name of a fictional character named Russ Holliday, who, according to Hulu, exhibited behavior so bad that it derailed his College ball career. Holliday, no longer college age (Powell, who also co-created, co-wrote and co-produced the series, is 36), disguises himself to join “a struggling Southern football team.” We hope he has good insurance.

“I don’t know if I like you playing Chad Powers,” Manning jokingly told Powell in an interview in May. “I am Chad Powers.” Manning, along with his brother Payton Manning is listed as an executive producer on the series, also noted that Powell had previous experience working on screen Top Gun: Maverick. “I saw you throwing the football and I thought, ‘Yeah, I don’t know about that guy.'”

We already know that Powell has what it takes to don silly wigs and disguises based on his role in killer. Is Manning’s gentle criticism of Powell’s pigskin skills justified, or will he be able to convince viewers of the series, set to hit theaters on Hulu in 2025, that he’s a middle-aged football rookie? Maybe the teaser for the show released on Saturday will answer that question.
