“Is he here tonight? Oh, he’s not?” Culkin quipped with a grin. “Sorry Pedro, weren’t you nominated this year? Next year. Maybe next year. If it won’t be me.”

Culkin enters the 2025 Golden Globes as a Best Supporting Actor nominee thanks to his acclaimed performance in Jesse Eisenberg’s “A Real Pain.” The film has already earned him major awards from the New York Film Critics Circle and the Los Angeles Film Critics Association.

Despite the taunts, Culkin had nothing but kind words for Pascal and her Actors on Actors co-star Colman Domingo. “He’s a lovely man,” Culkin said on the red carpet. “I want to work with both of these guys. They are just fantastic.”

The mock feud between Culkin and Pascal began at the Golden Globes last year, when Culkin won best actor in a TV drama for his role in the final season of HBO’s Succession. During his acceptance speech, Culkin joked, “I got nominated for a Golden Globe like I did 20 years ago, and when that moment was over, I remember thinking, I’ll never be in this room again.”

“But I’ve been here a few times thanks to Succession,” he added, before reciting a line that made the audience laugh: “Suck it, Pedro!”

The show then showed a humorously confused Pascal in the crowd, co-nominated for his role in the HBO series “The Last of Us.” Pascal kept up the banter weeks later at the strike-postponed Emmy Awards, where he arrived wearing a sling because of a shoulder injury. When asked about it, he deadpanned: “Kieran Culkin beat the crap out of me.”

This year, Culkin’s film A Real Pain is nominated for four awards, including best comedy film or musical. While Pascal may not have been at the ceremony, it’s clear that his friendly rivalry with Culkin is far from over.
