There will be a “succession” reunion of sorts at tonight’s ceremony. The show about the Roy siblings and their struggle to replace their father at the head of his media empire has always been a Globes favorite. The run, which ended in 2023, saw nine wins and 18 nominations. So how does it fit with a ceremony in 2025? Three actors are up for awards, but all in film categories.

For best supporting actor, it’s “Roy vs. Roy”: Kieran Culkin (aka Roman) is a contender for his role as the driving cousin in “A Real Pain,” and Jeremy Strong (aka Kendall) is a contender for the role of Roy Cohn “The Apprentice.” Both won Globes for their work on “Succession” and both are considered potential Oscar nominees for their roles on the big screen. (Tonight they face Yura Borisov for Anora, Edward Norton for A Complete Unknown, Guy Pearce for The Brutalist and Denzel Washington for Gladiator II.)

In the “Best Actor in a Drama” category, Adrien Brody, who played billionaire investor Josh Aaronson in “Succession,” is nominated for his role as a Hungarian architect and Holocaust survivor in “The Brutalist.” Although he has been nominated for a Golden Globe in the past, this was not for “Succession” but for “The Pianist” (2002), the same film for which he won an Oscar. Speaking of which, he also probably has a chance at an Oscar when the nominations are announced on January 17th.
